IMT: Musical anthologies for each year on earth
Garland - The anthologiser (not pictured)
IMT is an identifier for a collection of song playlists, each of which isessentially a themed anthology. Each IMT playlist brings together a set of 52 published (generally) popular music from a single calendar year on earth. There is currently an IMT playlist for each year since 1964.Â
IMT playlists are for pleasurable listening; each is assembled to be listened to, and I do listen to them. There are phases or circumstances where I mostly listen to the old ones. There are other phases and circumstances where I mostly listen to the new ones.
In service of the goal of listening for pleasure, neither inclusions nor ordering is taken lightly.
Â
Personal care is taken with each IMT playlist. Serious consideration is given to every inclusion. Most music-lovers agree that there are many more than 52 songs worthy of a listen from any given year. So, selecting any song for inclusion implicitly means excluding another song.
IMT playlists do not pretend to be objective; it's good to recognise biases and decided what to do with them. For the IMT playlists, I simply acknowledging that others would do it differently, and by complying with a set of self-imposed rules.
Segments of anthology movies
I've watched heaps, but have not got around to reviewing any since starting this site.
I plan to populate this section soon... or soon enough.
